Program Outline
|
|
|
- Full scholarship
program being offered to 20-25 graduating high school seniors with a
vocational background
- A pre-departure
orientation in Washington D.C.
- Two months of
intensive German Language Training
- Both a Mid-Term
and Re-Entry Seminar in Berlin
- Training/School
attendance and an internship while living with a German host family
- Room and Board
for the duration of the program
- Health, liability
and accident insurance
- International
travel to and from Germany

- At least 18 year
old and no more than 19 years old by July 1
- Graduating seniors
who will complete U.S. school studies in January or June prior to departure
- Minimum of a “B”
average (3.0)
- U.S. citizenship

full scholarship program is designed to strengthen ties between the successor
generations of each country.

Program
Summary |

- All students receive
2 months intensive language preparation
- Students should
be aware that Nacel Open Door’s partner in Germany will make every
effort to place them in a school or work situation in their field of
interest
- Understand that
the “international experience” is the important and essential
element in the exchange, rather than the specific training
- Students are required
to bring between $300-$350 per month for spending money
- Must provide own
domestic round trip transportation from their home to Washington D.C.

Today’s Scholarship for Tomorrow’s Tech Workforce
Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics (CSEM)
|

|
National
Science Foundation Scholarships are available at Brevard Community College
for students seeking an AA or AS degree as noted in the CSEM Field box.
New Applications are now being accepted!!
Up to $3,125 may be awarded each year for expenses normally incurred by
a full-time student, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment.
CSEMS can cover fees for computer certification exams and 4-year university
application fees.
Students must complete the attached application,
collect required documents, and complete the Planning Guide to apply.
Applications should be received at the address below not later than 45
days before semester start. Funding availability is expected through 2008
but may be withdrawn at any time without notice.

To
be eligible, students must meet the following criteria.
- Be a
US citizen or meet other legal criteria.
- Enroll
in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester.
- Maintain
a 3.0 GPA in area of specialty and 2.5 overall GPA at BCC.
- Seek AS
or AA in CSEM field as listed above.
- Enroll
in two discipline-related courses each semester.
- Submit
a letter of recommendation from an instructor, professional, or community
leader.
- Submit
a 2-year Planning Guide (see advisor) that leads to an AS or AA degree
in one of the CSEM fields.
- Students
planning to major in Math or Engineering must be enrolled in MAC 1140,
MAC 1147 or MAC 1311 during the first semester of participation. MAC
1311, MAC 2312, MAC 2313, and MAP 2302 must be included in the student
plan.
- Sign a
statement demonstrating intention to complete AS/AA degree.
- Apply for Financial Aid through Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA online), www.fafsa.ed.gov. Unmet need will determine
eligibility.
